A Failure in Limitless Ways

Posted Apr 24, 2011

To call “Limitless” directionless would be an understatement. This mediocre drama, depicting a writer’s obsessive craze over an extremely rare, intellectually enriching medicine, quickly collapses to a chaotic bombshell. Plagued by an outrageously complex, mind-boggling plot, the film juggles excessive aspects of its overwhelming premise, roughly handling its protagonist’s addiction, his financial career, and the thieves attempting to purloin the source of his intelligence. Gradually reaching an indescribable level of preposterousness and disorganization, the film disbands into an obnoxious, emotionless, and meaningless catastrophe. By then, not even the strongest glue in the world can bind this broken film together again. Zero out of four stars
